John Fogerty – Centerfield现场MV
毫无疑问，创作出棒球神曲“Centerfield”的John Fogerty是一位棒球超级发烧友。John专门委托Louisville Slugger球棒公司定制了一把棒球棒吉他，只用来演奏“Centerfield”。John还给这把吉他起了个名字，“Slugger”，也就是强棒的意思。
2010年5月，John Fogerty家乡的一场大洪水夺走了将近30人的生命，John家中被淹，他收藏的几十把定制吉他都被水冲走或泡烂。然而强棒果然身体棒，在John排除万难进入自己的房间，找到在水中泡了5天的“Slugger”时，发现它并未损坏，修复后竟然还可以使用。“Slugger”成为水灾后John的吉他的唯一幸存者。
棒球名人堂为避免这个棒球音乐神器再遭意外，于2010年7月“Centerfield”发表25周年之际，决定收藏“Slugger”为展品。这是棒球名人堂历史上首次纪念乐器和音乐家。John Fogerty从而成为摇滚名人堂和棒球名人堂的双料名人。
John Fogerty还真有的不舍得把“Slugger”交给名人堂。他说：“我一生只爱两样东西，棒球和吉他；而“Slugger”就是这两个最爱的化身；“Slugger”能让我想起棒球场上的安打、出局、成功和失败，就像人生起伏的经历；“Slugger”是独一无二的，我想他在名人堂会很快乐。”
跨越三十多年，不管用什么吉他演奏，John Fogerty的“Centerfield”总能给人一种单纯的激情与快乐，因为那是关于童年、棒球、家庭还有执着追求梦想的旋律。
